Objective: Demonstrate more cutscene events using Timeline to hide the keycard

In the previous two articles, Introduction to Timeline and Unity’s Timeline Animation, I showed how I was able to create a cutscene that blends between two camera angles and activated actor animation. In this article, I will make the keycard disappear when the actor reaches out for it to make it look like he has successfully taken it.

There are three steps:

  1. Add an Activation Track
  2. Add the game object we want to affect
  3. Adjust the window we want to see the game object

Following the previous articles, we are going to select the game object, SleepingGuardCutScene, that has the Playable Director component. In the Timeline window, let’s add an Activation Track.

In this scenario, I am going to drag the card to the Activation track. Next, scrub through to the point where you want the game object to disappear and adjust the start and endpoints.

Press Preview and we have the key card disappearing at the right moment.
